Un nouveau saint parisienUne guérison a été reconnue comme due à l’intercession du bienheureux Salomon (Nicolas Leclercq), frère des Écoles chrétiennes, martyr de la Révolution française (1745-1792): elle est survenue au Venezuela.
Salomon Leclercq sera canonisé à Rome, le 16 octobre 2016.
Né à Boulogne, le 14 novembre 1745, et entré au noviciat le 25 mars 1767, Frère Salomon était, en 1790, secrétaire du Frère Agathon, Supérieur général, rapporte le site des Frères des écoles chrétiennes.
Il refusa de prêter le serment de Constitution civile du clergé, un refus passible d’exil, d’emprisonnement et même de mort. La plupart des Frères refusèrent et durent abandonner leurs écoles et leurs communautés et se cacher, l’Institut n’ayant plus de statut légal.
Il vivait alors seul à Paris dans la clandestinité. Il reste de lui de nombreuses lettres qu’il écrivit à sa famille. La toute dernière date du 15 août 1792. Ce jour-là, il fut arrêté et emprisonné au Couvent des Carmes, avec de nombreux évêques, prêtres et religieux.
Le 2 septembre, avec 190 autres ecclésiastiques prisonniers, il fut massacré
à l’épée dans le couvent et son jardin. Le frère Salomon est le premier Frère
des Écoles chrétiennes martyr et aussi le premier à avoir été béatifié, le 17
octobre 1926, par le pape Pie IX, avec 188 de ses compagnons martyrs.Sa fête est célébrée le 2 septembre, en même temps que celle des Frères martyrs des Pontons de Rochefort, morts 2 ou 3 ans plus tard.
